Armed bank robbery suspect on the loose in ETX | News
LINDALE, TX (KLTV)- An armed bank robbery suspect is on the loose in East Texas after making out with a bag full of cash.
This happened around 3 p.m. at Capital One Bank in the 2500 block of Main Street, or Highway 69, in Lindale.
The FBI and Lindale police said no one was injured in this incident.
Authorities said the suspect had a gun up his sleeve, which he displayed to the teller. He then gave the teller a bag and asked for large bills.
Officials on the scene said the suspect is a Hispanic male. They say he fled the bank in an older model, light blue or possibly gray, two-door vehicle.
Witnesses reported to police they saw the dye packs in the money he stole explode. They told police they saw red smoke coming from the vehicle.
Brent Chambers is a supervisory agent with the FBI and said the dye most likely exploded all over the suspect, so people should be on the lookout for someone with red dye on their clothing, money and car.
Investigators dusted for fingerprints and are using the surveillance video and witness statements to search for the suspect.
Lindale Police said the FBI, Smith County Sheriff's Department and DPS are assisting with this investigation.
The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. Another media outlet is reporting that there are two suspects, but we have confirmed with Lindale police that there is only one suspect.
Witnesses reported to Lindale Police that the suspect fled south toward I-20.
The FBI is offering a reward for anyone with information on this man.
